Collection: La Côte d'Azur

Inspired by weeks around Antibes, Biot, Eze, Vallauris, Cagnes-sur-Mer and, Nice, this collection is all about slowing down and enjoying un apero ou deux.  There is nowhere to rush off to when summer is all about sitting in a café, people-watching, and beach time 'til dark.  Slow living is what it's all about in the south of France.

All of these pieces are made in brown stoneware and glazed in opalescence. I was lucky enough to time this collection with Ceramist Roger Baumann's communal firing this fall.

Wood firing is a long process that takes several days, slowly bringing up the heat to a final temperature of cone 10+.  The brown bottoms are exposed clay, with lighter clay dots showing where I placed the "lugs" (little clay feet to hold the piece in the kiln).
