This piece is inspired by a plate my husband bought in Tokyo over 2 decades ago. Rectangle plates are super useful for appetizers and desserts and if you have many in the same shape, you can stack them easily.
This one, I find particularly Japanese and makes me think of thick-cut pieces of sashimi and gyoza, but feel free to use it in any which way:) The plate and bowl are two separate pieces, the bowl is the perfect size for dipping sauces.
Opalescence with Navy Blue Celadon sponged over, creates a finish that's light blue, cream, and brown with specks of wood ash. Made with brown stoneware.
