test tile mug #1

Potters use test tiles to test glaze recipes, clay bodies and kiln temperatures. Testing is a BIG part of ceramics, as we try to figure out how we want our pieces to come out in the end.  It's a strange love affair of trial & error, meets hopes, dreams and unmet expectations.  I approach my test tile mugs with the same devotion, looking at each mug and assessing it's individual shape and best desired block pattern. Love is true acceptance.  

Brown stoneware mugs are taped and glazed with a variety of commercial glazes.  Approximately 3"x 3" holds, 8oz of coffee. Dishwasher and microwave safe.
